The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet engineering specifications, internal quality standards, and customer requirements. This position directly supports manufacturing operations through inspection, testing, documentation, and non-conformance management, while helping maintain a strong culture of quality, consistency, compliance, and safety across the organization. [

Responsibilities

Perform Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspections

  • Conduct inspections of raw materials, components, and finished products in accordance with quality procedures and control plans.
  • Complete visual and dimensional inspections of fittings and manufactured products.
  • Review and approve Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for raw materials and maintain associated records.
  • Prepare and handle fittings for inspection and third-party non-destructive examination (NDE) testing.
  • Verify compliance with specifications and standards and determine product acceptance status.
  • Conduct random inspections of products and measuring equipment and report non-conforming conditions.

Execute Quality Control Testing

  • Perform quality control testing for incoming and in-process materials in accordance with established procedures and industry standards, including ASTM requirements.
  • Generate accurate test reports and maintain testing schedules established by the Quality Supervisor.
  • Support achievement of performance targets including attainment and testing cycle times.
  • Escalate non-conforming test results by initiating NCRs and requesting engineering review when required.

Drive Non-Conformance Reporting and Quality Improvement

  • Create and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within the business system for products, processes, and failed tests.
  • Identify product defects through routine inspections and provide observations and recommendations.
  • Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns to the Quality Supervisor and production teams.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.

Support Quality Management Systems and Audits

  • Participate in Quality Management System (QMS) improvement initiatives.
  • Attend production meetings and provide feedback on NCR trends, first-time quality performance, and quality-related priorities.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain compliance with quality standards and procedures.
  • Assist with updating inspection and testing procedures as needed.

Maintain Documentation and Records

  • Review, update, and manage quality-related procedures and inspection documentation.
  • Maintain production and quality records to support traceability and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure inspection and testing documentation is complete, accurate, and readily accessible.

Promote Safety and Continuous Improvement

  • Actively participate in health, safety, environmental, volunteer, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support a safe working environment by following established procedures and promoting safe work practices.
  • Contribute to ongoing operational and quality improvements throughout the facility.

Qualifications, Education, and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Knowledge of ANSI inspection levels and Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL) methodologies. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 or ISO 2859-1 standards. (preferred)

Required Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection or quality control environment.
  • Experience performing inspections, testing, and documentation within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in pipe, polymer, composite, or related manufacturing environments. (preferred)

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Basic knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methodologies, and testing practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection equipment.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 and API Q1 quality requirements.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.

Physical and Working Conditions

  • Ability to perform regular manual inspection activities requiring prolonged standing, walking, visual concentration, and handling materials up to 50 lbs while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Comfortable working in a combination of office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperatures, and production equipment.
  • Ability to maintain focused visual attention while conducting inspections, testing, and documentation reviews.
