Job summary

MATTR is seeking an HSE Specialist at the Midland site to strengthen a proactive safety culture and safeguard employees. You will partner with site leadership to execute health, safety, and environmental programs that go beyond compliance and tie safety to operational performance.

You will lead JSAs, safety training, and audits, ensuring risk identification and corrective actions are applied across operations. Travel up to 10–15% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Fire Science, or related field
  • HSE certification with 3–5 years experience; 5+ preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing environments (heavy manufacturing or construction)
  • Familiarity with HSE systems/tools such as ERP platforms and MS Office
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective training programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Willingness to travel up to 10–15%

As an HSE Specialist, you will play a critical role in strengthening and sustaining a proactive safety culture at the Midland site. Partnering closely with site leadership, you will lead the execution of health, safety, and environmental programs that go beyond compliance. Your impact will directly support operational performance by protecting employees, driving engagement, and ensuring consistent application of safety standards across the site.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with site leadership to promote and embed a high-performing safety culture.
  • Execute and maintain HSE programs aligned with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in and support internal and external QHSE audits and site assessments.
  • Lead and support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard identification, and corrective action processes.
  • Implement and reinforce safety initiatives, including Stop Work Authority programs.
  • Deliver HSE training to ensure employee understanding and compliance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational goals while maintaining safety standards.
  • Maintain a strong presence in operational areas to observe, coach, and reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Identify risks and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Fire Science, or a related field
  • HSE certification with a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience; 5+ years preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in heavy manufacturing, construction, or similar industries
  • Familiarity with HSE systems and tools such as ERP platforms, Microsoft Office, or equivalent software
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective training programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to drive results in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with a positive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to travel up to 10–15% as required
