Job summary

ColonialWebb is seeking a Quality Control Inspector in Richmond, VA. The role ensures welding and mechanical pipe work meet codes, standards, and guidelines. A Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is preferred.

The position supports process efficiency and continuous quality improvement, championing quality methods across manufacturing and related departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• NDT Level II Visual Testing Certification.
• Experience with quality assurance/quality control in manufacturing.
• Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of welding codes and manufacturing processes including ASME/AISC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct/supervise welding qualification testing per ASME IX and/or AWS D1.1 requirements.
• Work with management to instill a quality culture across departments.
• Maintain welder qualification records using an in-house tracking system.
• Conduct welding visual inspections per applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate scheduling of non-destructive testing with outside contractors.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.
• Analyze inspection data and generate summary reports for management.

Position Overview

ColonialWebb is hiring a Quality Control Inspector. Ideally the person in this role is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). This position is instrumental in ensuring all welding and mechanical pipe work meets required codes, standards, regulations, and guidelines.

This role contributes to process efficiency and continuous quality improvement, championing the implementation of quality improvement methods throughout the manufacturing process.
