Job summary

APR Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector in Oxnard, CA to perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on spacecraft components. This onsite, second-shift position runs 2:30 PM to midnight, with a 9×80 schedule.

You will work from drawings and specifications, using calipers, micrometers, CMM, and other gauges to ensure conformance. The ideal candidate is a US citizen with a high school diploma/GED and 3+ years in QA/inspection, plus strong computer skills and GD&T

Qualifications

• US Citizen required.
• High school diploma or GED with 3+ years in QA/inspection or related education/experience.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, comparators, gages and CMM equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect visually and dimensionally using established methods and specs.
• Perform visual, dimensional, and functional tests on spacecraft components.
• Use calipers, micrometers, comparators, pin gages, and CMM.
• Decide on acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
• Document non-conformances and assist in root-cause analysis.
• Inspect incoming parts against vendor certifications and engineering requirements.
• Maintain inspection records, logs, and reports.
• Work from drawings, customer specs, and inspection instructions.

Job description

Location: Oxnard, CA 93030 (Onsite)
Position: Quality Inspector

Pay Rate: $55.48/hr on W2 (DOE)
Duration: 12 months or longer
Schedule: 9×80 A- This is a second shift position 2:30 to midnight

Responsibilities

• Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
• Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components.
• Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
• This job has decision-making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
• Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
• Support Production Teams: Interface with manufacturing operations and engineering personnel to improve processes and documentation issues.
• Document Non-conformances: Identify, document, and track non-conforming material, and assist in identifying root causes.
• Perform Receiving Inspection: Inspect incoming purchased parts and materials against vendor certifications and engineering requirements.
• Maintain Records: Maintain detailed inspection records, logs, and reports
• Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
• Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.

Basic Qualifications

• US Citizen required
• High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of additional education and/or direct experience in a quality assurance or inspection role.
• Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong Computer skills
• Ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria
• Understanding of GD&T
• Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results
• Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
• Experience with electronics workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 and other related specifications
• Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.
