Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Quality Inspector at our Orlando, FL facility. You will inspect mechanical assemblies and vehicle systems throughout production, verify conformity to engineering drawings, and document results to ensure we meet quality standards before shipment.

You will collaborate with production and engineering teams, identify defects, and assist in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives while promoting Lean and 5S in a fast-paced

How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Mechanical Assembly Quality Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, functionality, and workmanship of mechanical assemblies and completed vehicle systems throughout the manufacturing process. You will perform inspections, verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications, identify quality concerns, and work closely with production teams to ensure equipment meets company and customer quality standards before shipment.

Your attention to detail, understanding of manufacturing processes, and commitment to continuous improvement will directly contribute to delivering industry-leading products to our customers.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

• Inspection and Verification
• Perform in-process and final inspections of mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and completed vehicle systems.
• Verify components and assemblies meet engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Inspect mechanical installations including cabinetry, vehicle structures, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical mounting hardware, and related components.
• Utilize measuring and inspection tools such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, torque verification tools, and other quality inspection equipment.
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
• Quality Assurance and Problem Resolution
• Identify, document, and communicate defects, non-conformances, and process deviations.
• Collaborate with production personnel, supervisors, and engineering teams to resolve quality concerns.
• Verify corrective actions have been completed and meet established requirements.
• Assist with root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support quality audits and compliance reviews as required.
• Standards, Safety, and Continuous Improvement
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following company safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with workmanship standards, quality procedures, and customer requirements.
• Promote and support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
• Assist in developing and improving quality inspection processes and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• 3 to 7 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, vehicle assembly, fabrication, or related industrial environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Understanding of mechanical assembly processes and manufacturing standards.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection tools.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify defects and communicate findings effectively.
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes preferred.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Travel & Working Environment

• Onsite, Monday through Friday.
• 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the workday.
• Must be able to inspect assemblies in confined and elevated areas of specialty vehicles.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. for at least 15 feet.
• Must be able to distinguish defects, alignment issues, hardware discrepancies, and workmanship concerns.
• Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to operate measuring equipment, recording devices, and inspection tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
