Job summary

SPX Technologies, opening a new campus facility uniting Marley and Ingenia Technologies on one site, seeks a Quality Inspector to ensure OlympusMax and Ingenia AHUs meet customer specs, drawings, and industry standards, performing in-process and final inspections to safeguard quality before shipment.

This role offers involvement in startup activities, quality system development, and long-term operational excellence, with a fast-paced environment and opportunities to influence manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Ability to read assembly manuals, job orders, drawings, and Pack-In paperwork.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standards.
  • Ability to correctly and safely use hand tools (both manual and pneumatic).
  • Ability to read effectively from a paper copy.
  • Ability to plan work and select proper tools.
  • Ability to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct first article, receiving, in-process, and final inspections on OlympusMax and Ingenia custom AHUs.
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect critical components including fan arrays, coils, dampers, filters, energy recovery systems, and electrical panels.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Document nonconformances and support root cause investigations.
  • Verify electrical, mechanical, and functional tests are completed per company standards.
  • Ensure units meet project-specific performance and quality requirements prior to shipment.

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring OlympusMax and Ingenia custom Air Handling Units (AHUs) are manufactured and assembled in compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, quality standards, and applicable industry requirements. This position performs in-process and final inspections throughout the manufacturing process to verify product quality, workmanship, dimensional accuracy, and functional compliance prior to shipment. This role offers the opportunity to influence plant startup activities, develop quality systems, and shape long-term operational excellence.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Conduct first article, receiving, in-process, and final inspections on OlympusMax and Ingenia custom AHUs.
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Inspect critical components including:
    • Fan arrays
    • Coils
    • Dampers
    • Filters
    • Energy recovery systems
    • Electrical panels and controls
    • Welded assemblies
    • Structural framing
    • Casing and panel assemblies
  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Verify correct installation and orientation of components within AHU assemblies.
  • Ensure product labeling, documentation, and identification requirements are met.
  • Complete inspection reports, checklists, and quality records accurately and timely.
  • Document nonconformances and support root cause investigations.
  • Verify electrical, mechanical, and functional tests are completed per company standards.
  • Confirm units meet project-specific performance and quality requirements prior to shipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and certifications such as:
    • ISO 9001
    • UL requirements
    • Customer-specific specifications
    • Internal SPX Technologies quality standards

Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
Travel & Working Environment
  • Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located, QC Canada or other SPX locations such as Charlotte, NC or Overland, KS.
  • Manufacturing plant environment
  • Office and manufacturing plant environment with varying degrees of noise levels and potential exposure to bad weather, excessive heat and/or excessive noise.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing and potentially working at heights.
