Job summary

SPX Technologies in Missouri is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to conduct inspections and electrical testing to ensure products and components meet established quality, customer, regulatory, and company requirements.

You will support manufacturing quality initiatives, document data, troubleshoot testing equipment, and collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, or inspection-related role preferred.
  • Experience performing inspections, testing, or verification activities in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience utilizing measurement and test equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and wiring schematics.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and electrical testing to verify conformance to drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure products meet military, agency standards, and special drawing or specification requirements when applicable.
  • Identify and report quality concerns, defects, and non-conformances during inspection and testing activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to testing and measurement equipment.
  • Document data obtained during quality inspections, testing, and related activities.
  • Maintain quality records in accordance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and compliance activities by ensuring proper documentation and record retention.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform incoming inspections of purchased products and components; review supplier certifications.

How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)

The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections and electrical testing to ensure products and components meet established quality, customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This position supports manufacturing quality initiatives through product verification, documentation, troubleshooting, incoming inspection activities, and continuous improvement efforts while maintaining compliance with applicable industry, agency, and military standards.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Product Inspection and Testing
  • Conduct inspections and electrical testing to verify product and component conformance to drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Ensure products meet military standards, agency standards, and special drawing or specification requirements when applicable.
  • Identify and report quality concerns, defects, and non-conformances during inspection and testing activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to testing and measurement equipment.
  • Quality Documentation and Compliance
  • Document data obtained during quality inspections, testing, and related activities.
  • Maintain accurate quality records in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable quality standards and codes, including UL, CSA, military specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Support audits and compliance activities by ensuring proper documentation and record retention.
  • Product and Process Improvement
  • Communicate significant quality issues, trends, or developments identified during quality activities.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions and process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assist in investigating product failures and support root cause analysis efforts for internal and customer-reported issues.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supplier Quality Support
  • Perform incoming inspections of purchased products and components to verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Review supplier certifications and maintain required records for purchased materials and components.
  • Document supplier non-conformances and support supplier corrective action activities.
  • Provide input regarding product acceptance decisions and supplier performance evaluations.

Required Experience
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, or inspection-related role preferred.
  • Experience performing inspections, testing, or verification activities in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience utilizing measurement and test equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and wiring schematics.
  • Strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Working knowledge of UL, CSA, military specifications, and other industry quality standards.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality management systems.
  • Experience supporting root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience with SyteLine ERP system is a plus.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and technical drawings.
Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Quality-related certifications are a plus.
Travel & Working Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and use of inspection and testing equipment is required.
  • May occasionally lift materials and products in accordance with company safety guidelines.
  • Must comply with all safety policies and required personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
