Job summary

Deutsche Windtechnik is seeking a Quality Inspector in Houston to lead field audits, enforce QA processes, and support continuous improvement across operations and maintenance, EHS, and procurement. You will perform quality control, root-cause analyses, and data-driven improvements while coordinating with multiple departments to ensure standards are met.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in quality is a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role or combined operations and quality systems experience.
  • Background in LEAN methods, tools, and implementation.
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Good writing and presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly.

The Quality Inspector plays a key role in audits of DWT’s processes and procedures that directly impact field operations associated with, but not limited to, Operations and maintenances, EHS, Accounting and Finance, Training, Tool Calibration, Human Resources, Document Control, Records Management, and Procurement. The Quality Inspector enforces DWT’s policies and procedures and works with Leadership and functional area managers to create a culture and work environment that encourages setting and maintaining effective metrics and standards, identifying and resolving problems, ensuring a customer focus at all times, emphasizing a continual pursuit of improvement, and fostering mutual respect and communication within DWT. Responsible for working with DWT’s field teams to ensure that the correct operations and maintenances of the wind turbines under DWT’s care are performed. This role is a key interface between multiple departments that helps to ensure that the required operational and supporting processes related to field execution by the DWT team are in place and functioning and that the correct level of quality assurance is occurring during the work. Performs quality control and performance audits and other quality related activities in support of the companies Quality Assurance Program. Will also support turbine optimization and data analysis initiatives as required.

Are You Looking to:
  • Drive continuous improvement within the teams by actively gaining feedback by imbedding themselves with the teams during maintenances, troubleshooting and major component replacements?
  • Provide internal communication regarding compliance issues and applicable regulation changes?
  • Lead field audits and audits of key company processes?
  • Responsible for tracking incident resolution and other QA related information in the company’s online incident management system?
  • Aid in the creation of gap analysis to any new/changed procedures and processes?
  • Assist with incident investigations and the implementation of related corrective and preventive actions?
  • Work with the departments audited to resolve compliance issues, provide recommendation, communication on status of action resolution and bringing to management attention issues that require tracking corrective actions?
  • Assist sites with proper records management and document control?
  • Assist sites in ensuring that all incident preventive actions are being implemented?
  • Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements?
  • Support takeovers of new windfarms to DWT?
  • Work with the company’s Operations staff to ensure that customer contractual obligations and performance expectations are met?
  • Interface with operations and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and ensure that effective corrective actions are implemented?
  • Perform technical writing and reviews as required?

What You’ll Need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in quality or related field is a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role or a combination of knowledge and experience of Operations and Quality systems application.
  • Background in LEAN methods, tools, and implementation.
  • Very Good knowledge of MS Office products (WORD, POWERPOINT, and EXCEL)
  • Good writing skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good photography skills
  • Ability to climb wind turbines and work at height when necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license for state of residency
  • Valid US Passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to travel 60-70% 3 to 4 nights a week in support of DWT projects with most weekends at home and, if needed, international travel
