QUALITY INSPECTOR
Location: Houston, TX Job Type: Temp-to-Hire Schedule: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM-11:30 PM
ABOUT THE POSITION
LK Jordan & Associates is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to perform in-process, first-article, and final inspections of engineered fasteners and related products. The Quality Inspector will ensure products meet customer drawings, purchase order requirements, industry specifications, and internal quality procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, experience using precision measuring equipment, and the ability to read engineering drawings and identify nonconforming material.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished products
- Conduct in-process, first-article, and final inspections according to drawings, work orders, and inspection plans
- Operate and read precision measuring and inspection equipment, including: Calipers OD micrometers Pitch micrometers Thread ring and plug gauges (GO/NO-GO) Height gauges Surface plates Optical comparators
- Review Material Test Reports (MTRs) and certifications for traceability and compliance
- Review documentation for outside-processed parts, including heat treatment and coating
- Identify, tag, and segregate nonconforming material
- Prepare Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) for rejectable materials
- Verify part markings, head stamping, heat numbers, lot numbers, and traceability throughout production
- Perform hardness testing and other mechanical tests as required
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T callouts
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain quality records
- Support the company's Quality Management System (QMS)
- Communicate quality issues and discrepancies to appropriate personnel
- Follow established safety, quality, and inspection procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a Quality Inspector, QC Inspector, QA Inspector, or Manufacturing Inspector preferred
- Experience inspecting manufactured parts, fasteners, or similar industrial products is a plus
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Familiarity with GD&T
- Knowledge of MTRs, certifications, traceability, and nonconformance procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good problem-solving and documentation skillsAbility to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions
- Ability to work independently in a production environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus
