Title: Quality Improvement Specialist - MIHP

Salary: $64,604.80 - $96,428.80 / Posted Thru: 5/21/2025

Location: 100% Remote / Must live and work in the state of MI.

Purpose:

The MIHP Quality Improvement Specialist will oversee the Provider Application Process and Certification Review process of the Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) agencies. This role involves conducting quality improvement efforts to enhance internal processes and services of MDHHS MIHP agencies statewide. The Specialist will perform project coordination under the guidance of the Maternal Infant Health Unit Manager and Perinatal and Infant Health Section Manager. They will coordinate and support strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, collaboration, and evaluation of the program, serving as a liaison internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with MDHHS MIHP team members and agencies statewide.
  2. Coordinate activities related to the Provider Application Process and Certification Review.
  3. Prepare and submit reports, conduct surveys or studies as needed.
  4. Report issues to managers.
  5. Maintain program data for implementation and reporting.
  6. Provide technical assistance and operational guidance.
  7. Arrange consultations and logistic support for meetings.
  8. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to improve program quality.
  9. Analyze operations and recommend policy or procedural modifications.
  10. Coordinate home visiting strategies aligned with statewide health plans.
  11. Provide guidance to Regional Perinatal Quality Collaboratives.
  12. Represent the department at external work groups and meetings.
  13. Participate in internal committees and work groups.
  14. Always act in the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in any major.
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in maternal and child health, project management, or quality improvement projects.
  • Preferred experience addressing maternal and child health needs of at-risk communities.
Skills and Characteristics:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of social factors influencing health, Medicaid, maternal and child health principles.
  • Experience in health disparities and population health management.
  • Leadership in quality improvement projects.
  • Meeting planning and record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain public relations.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Office and remote work settings, some travel required, moderate physical demand.
