Job Summary

The QI Coordinator, Trauma Services is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the performance in the trauma program and works closely with the multi-disciplinary health care team to identify opportunities for improvement. The coordinator also assists with data entry in the Medical Center Trauma Registry, data retrieval and collection, data analysis, and presentation of data both internally and externally.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates the ability to impart knowledge to others and promote teamwork.
  • Displays caring and effective communication and rapport with help desk users and co-workers.
  • Communicates professionally with patients, staff and physicians.
  • Provides excellent customer service skills.
  • Acts as a resource person within the department regarding communication skills.
  • Establishes strong working relationships between healthcare professionals, families and patients to strengthen clarity.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve good employee relations.
  • Attends and participates in hospitalist staff meetings and contributes to the smooth operation of the Inpatient Medicine Specialists Department.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Establishes and maintains close contact with primary care providers and nursing staff regarding inpatients serviced by the Inpatient Medicine Specialists team.
  • Analyzes and manages reporting of data, completes quality reviews or reports at the direction of the director.
  • Identifies areas for further investigation and ‘drill down’ of data.
  • Prepares reports to assist with accreditation of various initiatives/recognition programs such as PCMH, Patient Safety, etc.
  • Designs and maintains organization-wide quality scorecard.
  • Prepares Quality Committee reports including graphs and summary-level data on all quality initiatives.
  • Maintains appropriate databases and reporting structures/media.
  • Effectively communicates with physicians, staff, and peers using all mediums.
  • Implements applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with data management in patient care.
  • Researches patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and improve workflow.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Participates in departmental Quality Improvement projects and develops in-depth knowledge of intradepartmental quality improvement.
  • Actively participates in the collection and interpretation of data.
  • Analyzes outcomes and assists the director with formulation and implementation of policy and practice revisions to achieve goals.
  • Participates in assigned hospital committees, meetings, and projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (Required).
  • 5 or more years of nursing experience in surgical care, critical care, and/or an emergency department.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Georgia (Required).
