Job summary

Hartford HealthCare in Farmington, CT seeks a Quality Improvement Clinical Documentation Specialist (QICDS) to lead documentation improvement, PSI/HAC reviews, and CDS education. This role requires clinical coding, HIM, and CMS knowledge, with ability to mentor staff and collaborate across coding and quality teams.

The successful candidate will review medical records, ensure accurate DRG assignment, and support system-wide documentation integrity within Optum and EPIC.

Qualifications

• RN with 5+ years of acute care experience (ICU/CCU) required.
• CT RN license or eligibility required.
• Experience with PSI/HAC and mortality risk systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality and safety documentation initiatives to optimize HIM, coding, CMS compliance.
• Mentor CDS staff and educate providers on queries and CDI policies.
• Review records for PSIs, HACs, and mortality risk; ensure accurate DRG assignment.
• Collaborate with Coding and Quality teams; use Optum/EPIC for documentation.
• Meet KPIs and participate in CDI meetings and trainings.
