Job summary

Maglio Produce seeks a Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance to lead our food safety, QA, sanitation, and occupational health programs. This role ensures regulatory and customer compliance, maintains systems, and develops staff through coaching and performance management.

You will oversee audits, environmental monitoring, and analytical testing while partnering with Sales, Operations, and Maintenance to meet quality standards and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Technical knowledge of food safety and quality.
• Knowledge of GFSI audit schemes and the GFSI audit process.
• Experience with USDA/FDA regulations and local, state, and federal regulations.
• 5-7 years in Quality Assurance or Food Safety Leadership.
• 3-5 years in management (hiring, discipline, training, retention).
• Experience developing schedules and ensuring GMP compliance.
• Food safety documentation, SOPs, SSOPs, and training materials.
• Corrective action plans development and implementation.
• Product and environmental sample collection.
• Experience evaluating food safety software systems.
• Produce industry experience preferred.
• HACCP and PCQI certification preferred.
• English & Spanish bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
• Ensures compliance with third-party audits and customer food safety standards.
• Develops employees through training, annual reviews, and mentoring.
• Oversees environmental monitoring program, testing results, and reporting.
• Maintains safe work environment and fosters teamwork in the department.
• Implements internal quality systems to support company growth.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, Maintenance on quality programs and testing.
• Oversees sanitation team staffing, scheduling, and development.
• Analyzes process control charts and quality cost analyses.
• Designs and implements test protocols for R&D efforts.
• Evaluates and implements food safety software solutions.
