Job summary

Corning seeks a strong Quality Leader to head a team at the Trivium facility, ensuring sustained quality management and continuous improvement. You will collaborate with Process Engineering, Technology, and Product Line Management to meet Critical to Quality requirements and drive product quality architecture.

This role focuses on solving complex quality challenges in a manufacturing environment, developing people, and delivering measurable improvements in supplier and process performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or other relevant technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or technical leadership role in the military
• Demonstrated track record of delivering results
• Broad experience across manufacturing and engineering functions
• Experience leading projects from scope definition through implementation
• Experience coaching and developing junior engineers and technicians
• Knowledge of ISO or TL quality system fundamentals and audits
• Experience with data acquisition, consolidation, and analysis
• Familiarity with product specifications and measurement systems
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in problem solving and follow-through on quality issues impacting manufacturing
• Coach and oversee team members in daily responsibilities and longer-term objectives
• Identify development opportunities and support growth plans
• Partner with Technology and Engineering on product enhancements and transfers
• Lead the team to understand internal and external customer needs and improve plant quality systems
• Execute and implement the Product Quality Architecture strategy
• Engage with leadership on quality performance and structured problem solving
• Lead efforts to reduce customer returns and notifications through corrective actions
• Ensure Quality Management System aligns with TL9000 requirements
• Oversee incoming inspection, calibration systems, and optical test equipment support

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a strong and experiencedQuality Leaderto lead a team responsible for sustaining and continuously improving the overallQuality Management Systemat our Trivium facility. In this role, you will ensure our customers’Critical to Qualityrequirements are consistently met by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams includingProcess Engineering, Technology, and Product Line Management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive leadership inproblem solving, issue resolution, and follow-throughon quality-related issues impacting manufacturing
• Coach, mentor, and oversee team members in theirdaily responsibilitiesand longer-term objectives
• Identify development opportunities for team members and support execution of their growth plans
• Partner withTechnology and Engineeringon product enhancements, new product designs, and product transfers to ensure customer specifications and expectations can be met
• Lead the team in understanding bothinternal and external customer needs, ensuring expectations are consistently achieved through monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and continuously improving plant quality systems
• Execute and implement theProduct Quality Architecture strategy
• Engage with various levels of leadership regarding quality performance, quality-related issues, and structured problem solving
• Lead efforts to reducecustomer returns and notificationsby driving rigorous corrective action methodologies
• Ensure the plant maintains a robustQuality Management Systemaligned with company standards andTL9000 requirements
• Oversee key departmental quality functions such as:
  • Incoming inspection of raw materials
  • Calibration systems
  • Optical test equipment support

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degreein Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or other relevant technical discipline
• 5+ years of experiencein a manufacturing environment, or military experience in a technical leadership role
• Demonstratedtrack record of delivering results
• Broad experience acrossmanufacturing and engineering functions
• Experience leading projects fromscope definition through implementation
• Experiencecoaching and developing junior engineers and technicians

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment inat least two different roles
• Knowledge ofISO or TL quality system fundamentalsand certification processes, includinginternal and external audits
• Experience withdata acquisition, consolidation, and analysisfrom multiple sources
• Familiarity withproduct specifications and measurement systems
• Knowledge ofStatistical Process Control (SPC)
• Background inproject management, performance excellence, or MEEis a plus
• Ability to applysituational leadershipto a diverse team
• Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability
• Customer-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement

The range for this position is $112,328.00-$154,451.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
