Job summary

Garmin International seeks a full-time Quality Engineering Intern at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

You will contribute to manufacturing, quality & reliability, warehousing, and global product distribution, supporting process design, documentation, cost/benefit analysis, and management reporting. You will collaborate with quality engineers on cross-functional projects, analyze data to identify issues, apply quality tools, and assist with root cause analysis and process

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in a related engineering or IT field.
• GPA around 3.0 or higher is expected.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist with quality-related projects across manufacturing, quality & reliability, warehousing and distribution.
• Identify issues through data analysis to determine if further investigation is required.
• Apply quality tools to support data analysis and issue resolution.
• Participate in implementing process and quality tool enhancements.
• Support root cause analysis and design/improvement efforts.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Quality Engineering Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing aspects of manufacturing and distribution operations activities, as applies to production, quality & reliability, warehousing, and global product distribution to include process design/improvement, process documentation and checklist, cost/benefit analysis of projects, and reporting of results to management.

Essential Functions

• Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards.
• Work with quality engineers on complex projects across multiple functional areas, managing ongoing action items while tracking and reporting progress
• Identify and analyze issues through data analysis methods to determine if further investigation is required
• Understand and apply quality tools to aid in data analysis and issue resolution
• Participate in implementation of process and quality tool enhancements
• Support root cause analysis of recurring quality issues and implementation of process/design improvements

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other related field
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Proficient using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality

Desired Qualifications

• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience in engineering, IT, supply chain, manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution operations
• Fluent in statistical analysis
