Job summary

Aptiv's Connection Systems (CS) segment seeks a Quality Engineering Intern to assist in warranty analysis and cost tracking in Troy, MI. You will collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions, while maintaining warranty records and communicating costs with finance.

Ideal candidates are engineering students with a 3.0+ GPA who are proficient in Excel and PowerPoint and eager to learn about automotive quality processes and warranty

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Engineering with strong math and problem solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Quality Engineering team in warranty analysis processes.
• Interact with Product Engineering and Manufacturing on root-cause investigations.
• Assist with corrective actions and warranty cost tracking.
• Maintain documentation of warranty claims and investigations.
• Communicate warranty costs and forecasts with finance and customer service.

Your Role

The Quality Engineering Intern will support the Quality Engineering team in developing, implementing and maintaining warranty analysis processes with all customers, striving for issues resolutions, interfacing with Product Engineering and Manufacturing teams on investigation of root causes and implementation of corrective actions. Ensure warranty costs management and communication with finance teams, pursuing costs reduction and accurate provisions. This position will be located in Troy, MI.

Key job responsibilities for this role include:

• Learn customers’ warranty procedures and monitor their portals for warranty claims.
• Review warranty claims per customers' requirements to identify problems.
• Participate in warranty returns and testing.
• Participate in root cause analysis using problem solving tools.
• Work with engineering teams to define and implement design and/or manufacturing changes to fix warranty issues.
• Maintain accurate records of warranty claims, investigations, and resolutions.
• Analyze warranty data and trends to identify risks and proactively address potential customer concerns and/or high warranty costs.
• Identify and communicate warranty claims and/or costs charged inappropriately to Aptiv.
• Collaborate with finance and customer service teams to track warranty costs, make future estimates, support claims reconciliation, and ensure accurate reporting of warranty-related expenditures.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Pursuing degree in Engineering
• Must maintain minimum 3.0 GPA
• Well versed on Microsoft suite software, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
