Job summary

Emerson in Sherman, TX is seeking a motivated student for a full-time Summer/Fall Co-op from January 2027 through August 2027. You will work with Quality, Assembly and Engineering to write work instructions, document processes, and support lean initiatives.

Enrollment in a Bachelor's program in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required; strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential. AutoCAD experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on problem solving; self-motivated and disciplined.
• Commitment to full-time Summer/Fall Co-op in Sherman, TX (Jan 2027–Aug 2027).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States; no sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Write work instructions, quality alerts, change requests, tooling/fixtures drawings, and other documentation.
• Update shop floor layouts and perform time studies.
• Document current and future state workflow and potential process improvements.
• Attend kaizen events to eliminate waste and support lean initiatives.
• Attend department, team, and project meetings as necessary.
• Collaborate with engineers and other departments to address safety, quality and production challenges.
