Job summary

Precision Castparts seeks a co-op student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. The role offers progressively responsible tasks in quality and manufacturing engineering, with opportunities to participate in project teams and develop process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of related engineering discipline functional and technical skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Good writing skills and interpersonal skills.
  • US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.

Responsibilities

  • Accomplish performance goals and receive progressive responsibility in quality and/or manufacturing engineering throughout the co-op experience.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements in addition to specified projects.
  • Conduct statistical analysis.
  • Assist with procedure control and quality planning.
  • Organize, communicate and reduce quality issues.
  • Attend department meetings, training sessions and educational opportunities.
  • Perform or review systems analysis, testing and documentation for existing processes.
  • Take ownership for identified quality engineering projects.
  • Participate on project teams to develop requirements and specifications.
  • Work within specifications to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate on new material development, testing and implementation with peers and other departments.

Job description

The co‑op student will work on projects and will have responsibilities to supplement their knowledge and experience in the Engineering field. The projects and assignments will become increasingly challenging with each subsequent rotation. Our goal is to provide an effective learning experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The student will be responsible for accomplishing performance goals and will receive progressive responsibility in quality and/or manufacturing engineering throughout the co‑op experience.
  • Will identify and recommend process improvements in addition to specified projects.
  • Student will conduct statistical analysis.
  • Will assist with procedure control and quality planning.
  • Student will be responsible for organizing, communicating and reducing quality issues.
  • Student will attend regular department meetings, as well as training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities.
  • Will perform or review systems analysis, testing and documentation for existing processes.
  • Will take ownership and responsibility for identified quality engineering projects.
  • Participate on project teams for assigned projects; analyze improvements and new product or applications and develop requirements and specifications with the team.
  • Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate with peers, project team members and other departments on new material development, testing and implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications
  • Full‑time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Other Benefits
  • $25.00 per hour/40 hours a week.
  • Housing stipend or travel stipend available (if qualifies).
