Job summary

Sterling-Industries-4 is seeking a Quality Engineer to launch and manage quality processes, products, equipment, and personnel for compliance with quality management systems.

The role requires 5–8 years in ISO environments, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate with suppliers and internal departments. Travel to USA/Canada may be required; familiarity with gage calibration and CMM programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality processes and documentation for new programs and sustainment.
  • Lead manufacturing process development and continuous improvement to meet quality metrics.
  • Analyze customer, internal, and supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement preventative actions and continuous improvements in manufacturing and quality areas.
  • Manage non-conformance inventory, disposition, and costs.

Salary Range: US$75,000.00 To US$85,000.00 Annually

Quality Engineering

DEPARTMENT: Quality

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the launch and daily management of the processes, products, equipment, people and customers in regards to the quality management system and regulatory requirements.

DIRECT REPORTS: None

MAJOR DUTIES
  1. Development and implementation of all quality related processes and documentation for new program development and current sustainment business.
  2. Direct involvement in manufacturing process development and continuous improvement as to meet or exceed the company’s quality metrics and process metrics for current and new business.
  3. Review, analysis, and resolution of customer/internal/supplier quality issues through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  4. Development and implementation of preventative actions and continuous improvements within the manufacturing and quality areas.
  5. Control of the non-conformance area (inventory, disposition, and associated costs)
  6. Purchase, management and review of gage equipment, certifications and calibrations. Including programing CMM or other coordinate measurement equipment.
  7. Ensure the Gage calibration log is complete and up to date.
  8. Coordinate with the quality inspector for the daily inspection, measurement, test, and approval of all components, product, process and use of quality metrics to ensure quality targets are met.
  9. Communicate and coordinate with management, administrative, operations, quality, and engineering departments.
  10. Daily use of quality management system software and SPC systems.
  11. Participate in conducting supplier and internal system and process audits.
  12. Additional duties as requested by management.
  13. Material Compliance knowledge and experience.
  14. Exposure to product launch and development. Experience with this process and produce.
  15. Frequent interaction with suppliers and familiar with requirements of supplier quality demands and regulations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  1. Engineering bachelor’s degree, with technical and mathematical focus preferred.
  2. 5-8 years of experience in a quality department in an ISO registered environment
  3. High volume workload requires conscientious attitude with accuracy and attention to detail.
  4. Knowledge and experience on: b. Process capability and effect on processes, production, equipment, and assembly) c. Problem solving methods (5Y, Fishbone, 8D, etc.). d. Ability to be self-managed and directed from a satellite operation
  5. Six Sigma certifications a plus (green belt of higher)
  6. Proficient in with Microsoft office (outlook, excel, word, power point)
  7. 8. Excellent time management skills and the ability to be self-directed
  8. 9. Customer focus and continuous improvement approach.
  9. 10. Experience with machining, fabrication, and assembly operations a plus
  10. 11. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and lift minimum 40 pounds.
  11. 12. The position will require some travel (USA and Canada).
