Job summary

Vestas is seeking a Team Leader in Windsor, CO to drive manufacturing quality excellence. You will develop and maintain preventive quality controls, oversee non-conformance management, and lead continuous improvement initiatives with production teams to ensure top-tier quality and readiness for new products.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a technical field and 5+ years in manufacturing quality, with strong skills in PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and RCA methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, process engineering, or related technical environment
• Strong knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why)
• Experience analyzing manufacturing and process data using spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools
• Strong communication, facilitation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Lead rapid containment activities for internal, supplier, and customer non‑conformances to protect product quality and downstream operations
• Govern Quality Before Delivery (QBD) Level 1 and 2 processes, ensuring proper escalation, documentation, and closure
• Facilitate root cause investigations using 8D, Six Sigma, 5-Why, and other structured problem‑solving methodologies
• Verify the effectiveness and long‑term sustainability of corrective and preventive actions
• Review and evaluate significant quality issues for escalated technical review and resolution
• Present findings and improvement plans to cross‑functional stakeholders

What Does A Quality Engineer Do?

Drive Manufacturing Quality Excellence

• Develop, implement, and maintain preventive quality controls including PFMEA, Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), layered audits, and process confirmations.


• Monitor process stability and capability through audits, inspections, and data‑driven analysis.


• Maintain and update quality documentation to reflect process changes, risks, and mitigation actions.


• Ensure compliance with Vestas Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and manufacturing standards.

Lead Non‑Conformance (NC) Management & Problem Solving

• Lead rapid containment activities for internal, supplier, and customer non‑conformances to protect product quality and downstream operations.


• Govern Quality Before Delivery (QBD) Level 1 and 2 processes, ensuring proper escalation, documentation, and closure.


• Facilitate root cause investigations using 8D, Six Sigma, 5-Why, and other structured problem‑solving methodologies.


• Verify the effectiveness and long‑term sustainability of corrective and preventive actions.


• Review and evaluate significant quality issues for escalated technical review and resolution.

Support Continuous Improvement

• Drive Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) reduction initiatives through preventive quality strategies and defect elimination.


• Lead quality‑focused continuous improvement and Kaizen activities.


• Partner with production teams to reinforce standard work, quality practices, and visual management systems.


• Assess training needs and support the development of operators and technicians in key quality areas.

Enable New Product & Process Readiness

• Support product qualifications, engineering changes, and new product introductions.


• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and NPI teams to ensure quality readiness for new technologies and manufacturing processes.


• Integrate and optimize digital quality tools including non‑conformance, testing, and traceability systems.

Analyze & Communicate Quality Performance

• Analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.


• Communicate quality performance, risks, and recommendations to production teams and leadership.

Present findings and improvement plans to cross‑functional stakeholders.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.


• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, process engineering, or a related technical environment.


• Strong knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why)


• Experience analyzing manufacturing and process data using spreadsheets, databases, and analytical tools.


• Strong communication, facilitation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.


• Ability to influence teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.


• Lead Auditor certification.


• Experience supporting new product introductions and process qualification activities.


• Experience working within a regulated or ISO‑certified manufacturing environment.
