Job summary

Vestas is seeking a Management-level Project Lead in Houston to drive multi-disciplinary project activities in wind turbine installation and decommissioning. You will coordinate onsite teams, manage budgets and schedules, and work closely with service, construction, and engineering teams to ensure safe, on-time project delivery.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in project management within industrial or manufacturing settings, strong English communication, and proven leadership to build focused

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience as project manager, project lead, or in management within service/industrial/manufacturing settings.
  • Ability to build and lead focused teams/operations.
  • Experience interpreting commercial terms and negotiating to balance profitability and customer needs.
  • Strong English communications skills (verbal, listening, written, meetings, presentations).
  • Comfort with climbing wind turbines.
  • Safety-oriented leadership and accountability.
  • Able to coach, mentor, and develop employees to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments.
  • Demonstrated change and conflict management and balanced risk taking.

Responsibilities


  • Responsible for developing all stages of project activities

  • Work closely with Service and Construction site management, QSE, Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, and other support functions for effective project execution.

  • Coordinate, schedule and direct work of onsite personnel, contractors and customers for decommissioning and installation activities.

  • Oversee inventory and tool ordering, usage and tracking.

  • Identify opportunities for cost and time savings, mitigate delays and undue expenses, coordinate work in accordance to budgeted targets.

  • Clearly communicates project progress to key stakeholders.

  • Is overall responsible for safe execution of projects with minimal supervision from higher level management.


Qualifications


  • 1-3 years of experience as project manager, project lead, or other management experience, is beneficial in a related service, industrial or manufacturing setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver a focused team / operation.

  • Demonstrated completed project in understanding commercial terms, and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs.

  • Comprehensive English communications skills (verbal, listening, written, meeting management, presentation).

  • Safely climb a wind turbine.

  • Safety-oriented leadership.

  • Effective leadership skills: demonstrated ability in coaching, mentoring, motivating and developing employees to create a highly aligned, motivated and engaged team. Converts strategy into action-oriented objectives and communicates the direction with purpose.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional environment.

  • Effective change and conflict management. Demonstrated decision-making ability with balanced risk taking. Applies specialized knowledge to get results leveraging group interaction and areas of specialty.

  • Highly motivated with demonstrated accountability and ownership. Functions effectively in a time-sensitive setting in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands. Enjoys handling multiple tasks at once. Demonstrates urgency in meeting commitments.

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement and quality methodology skills. Effective issue resolution and structured problem-solving methodology. Recommends and implements improvements in existing products / services to better meet customer needs.

  • Ability to develop and maintain project scope and maintain budget and P&L requirements.

  • Technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems to develop repairs.

  • Experienced with customer interaction and business development.
