Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead strategic production quality initiatives across design, manufacturing, and supply chain. You will drive corrective actions, MRB/FRB processes, and data-driven improvements to meet reliability and compliance goals.

The role requires strong root-cause analysis, experience with ISO/AS9100, and collaboration with program management, engineering, and customers. A U.S. secret clearance or eligibility is required and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a Technical, Industrial, or Quality Assurance related field at the Bachelor level or above or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience leading cross functional improvement activities to include review, identification, and driving action plans of yield top drivers.
  • Ability to interpret Drawings, Specifications, and Contracts that will enable review of Quality Engineering processes, inspections, root causal analysis, problem solving, and taking action on related Performance Metrics.
  • Root causal analysis experience and demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical or process issues varying from basic to very complex.
  • Experience in disposition of non-conforming material or products.
  • Prior Quality Engineer experience and strong Project Management skills.
  • U.S Citizenship required with the ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead critical strategic projects and site Production Quality process improvements to improve throughput.
  • Coordinate Production Operations Corrective Action Board, RCCAs for systemic trends, and proactive quality improvements.
  • Perform technical evaluations of requirements, specifications, models, drawings, and procedures with program management, engineering, and customers.
  • Lead failure investigations, MRB/FRB activities, and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop strategies to improve internal and supplier performance and audit quality systems (ISO/AS9100).

Quality Engineer role reporting to Quality Sr Manager, responsible for leadership of critical strategic projects and site Production Quality process improvements to improve team throughput. Overall coordination responsibility for Production Operations Corrective Action Board, RCCAs for systemic trends, and proactive process and product Quality improvements. Applies quality principles across design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, reliability, inventory, and R&D for make‑or‑buy items. Performs technical evaluations of requirements, specifications, models, drawings, and procedures, and collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customers to establish and maintain quality standards. Leads failure investigations, Material Review Board (MRB) and Failure Review Board (FRB) activities, and drives corrective/preventive actions that meet reliability and compliance requirements. Develops strategies and systems to improve internal and supplier performance, identifies and rectifies quality‑system deficiencies, and designs/analyses inspection and test processes and equipment. Conducts statistical analysis of failures, yields, rework, scrap, and non‑conformances, and supports Integrated Product Teams with data reviews. Performs audits and assessments for ISO‑9001/AS9100 compliance, evaluates design‑assurance and production‑process methodologies, and serves as the final authority on product acceptability. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, and program personnel on all quality‑related issues. Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.

Basic Qualifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt / Black Belt)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CSQ) and / or Certified Quality Improvement associate (CQIA)
  • Thorough understanding in AS9100 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Effective communication skills: written, oral, listening, and technical writing, across all levels of leadership across multiple sites
  • Effective interpersonal skills including team building and collaboration
  • Leadership and customer relationship management skills
  • Active Secret Clearance
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
