Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Quality Planning Lead to ensure up-to-date quality plans for new products, process changes, and revisions. You will develop customer-facing quality documentation with Excel-based tools, train production teams, and coordinate inspection plans to support data collection.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering and a Six Sigma Green Belt or similar experience, with strong communication skills to liaise with customers and suppliers. Supervisory responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and/or at least five years experience in a related field.
  • Six Sigma Green-Belt or other process improvement experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an understanding of customer requirements, including AQL Sampling, PPAP, FAIRs, Capability Studies, Quality Documentation, Gage R&R's, and other applicable quality requirements, and ensures quality plans and documentation meet these requirements.
  • Coordinates with inspection teams to develop and maintain inspection plans that effectively support data collection requirements and ensure data is captured accurately and efficiently.
  • Utilizes risk management tools in accordance with documented procedures, including but not limited to PPAP, PFMEA, and DFMEA. Supports the development and implementation of process mitigation plans and strategies to address risks identified through the Risk Management process.
  • Communicates with customers (internal and external) and suppliers regarding quality planning requirements, processes, and documentation as needed.
  • Ensures process compliance through use of procedures, work instructions, flowcharts, forms, templates, checklists, worksheets, and other product and process related documentation.
  • Performs engineering analysis and supports continuous improvement activities related to quality planning, inspection processes, and manufacturing processes.
  • Performs a broad variety of tasks as assigned by manager.

Description

Ensure accurate and current quality plans are in place for all applicable jobs, including new product introductions, process or revision changes, and other planning updates. Support effective execution by communicating customer and process requirements, resolving issues, training production and inspection teams, and developing customer-facing quality documentation using Excel-based tools and macros.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Roles


  • Ensure plans and are in place for all jobs as necessary (NPI, process/revision changes, time lapses, etc.).

  • Ensure effective use of quality plans and programs by inspection and production teams by responding to issues and concerns and providing necessary training.

  • Effectively communicate with manufacturing, engineering, and inspection teams to flow customer requirements, process changes, etc.

  • Utilize Microsoft Excel Macros to generate quality documentation to be submitted to external customers.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and/or at least five years experience in a related field. Six Sigma Green-Belt or other process improvement experience is a plus.


Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.

  • Knowledge of Quality Planning, zero defect planning, and quality documentation.

  • Understanding of quality and inspection specifications, including but not limited to: AS9102, AS13002, etc.

  • Ability to perform statistical process control input and interpret statistical data to compensate for machining deviation.

  • Ability to generate and update quality documents and tools, such as control plans, FMEAs, PPAP, FAIRs, etc.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will directly supervise Quality Documentation Team and Quality Engineering - Planning Team.


May be required to train and assist other employees.
