Job summary

Rolls-Royce Power Systems in Mankato, MN is seeking a Quality Engineer for New Product Introduction. You will design and integrate quality from concept to production, collaborating with design and engineering to implement DFSS and FMEA, and overseeing prototype testing to ensure conformance.

You will monitor post-launch quality and drive corrective actions, while upholding the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct and participating in special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering required.
  • 3 years of quality engineering experience with large industrial equipment, or 7 years overall.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement NPI quality plans from design to production.
  • Collaborate with design/engineering to embed quality considerations (DFSS, FMEA).
  • Oversee prototype testing and validation before production.
  • Conduct launch readiness assessments and escalate quality concerns.

Job description

Quality Engineer – New Product Introduction (NPI)

Rolls‑Royce, Mankato – the Quality Engineer – New Product Introduction is responsible for ensuring high quality standards are integrated into the design and development of new genset products, enhancing product reliability, supporting innovation, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement NPI quality plans, embedding quality from design to production.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to incorporate quality considerations using tools such as DFSS and FMEA, and facilitate the PFMEA process.
  • Oversee prototype testing and validation to ensure prototypes meet quality and performance specifications before production.
  • Conduct launch readiness assessments, escalating quality concerns to senior management.
  • Monitor product quality post‑launch, identify emerging issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a compliance culture in the area of responsibility and adhere to the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as required.
Basic Requirements
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering and 3 years of quality engineering experience with large industrial equipment, or 7 years of such experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of engineering science and technology for large industrial equipment production.
  • Expertise in quality control, raw materials, manufacturing processes, and cost optimization.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70, NEC, UL 2200, and CSA.
  • Familiarity with plant operations and equipment.
  • Knowledge of MTU components and products.
  • Knowledge of genset performance requirements.
  • Knowledge of gauge and test equipment.
