Job summary

Nucor Tubular Products – Decatur is seeking a Quality Engineer to own the site’s Quality Management System and drive quality initiatives. This on-site, full-time role serves as the technical representative on ASTM product specifications and ISO 9001 requirements, leading audits, investigations, and corrective actions across operations and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in engineering, materials science, related field or equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirement.
• Strong analytical and process/product investigation skills.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work unscheduled overtime.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and/or other Nucor facilities as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States both now and in the future without employer sponsorship.
• Preferred: CQE certification, knowledge of ASTM/CSA standards, manufacturing quality experience, mechanical testing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own the site’s Quality Management System and drive quality initiatives.
• Serve as technical representative on ASTM product specifications and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Lead internal and external audits, claims investigations, and corrective actions.
• Partner with operations, commercial, customers and suppliers to ensure product and process capability.
• Lead building and sustaining a strong quality culture and work cross-functionally with tubular group teams.
