Job summary

Nucor Steel Memphis is seeking a Metallurgist to lead quality improvement and training with operations and maintenance teams, using statistical process control to direct process development and cost reduction.

The role includes reviewing customer specifications, handling customer feedback, driving process improvements to satisfy feedback, and upholding safety policies and housekeeping standards at all times.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or equivalent engineering field.
• Minimum of 10 years steel making or manufacturing experience in a metallurgical/process engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality improvement and training with operations and maintenance teams.
• Use statistical process control tools to direct continuous improvement, process development and cost reduction activities.
• Review customer specifications, handle customer claims and feedback, and drive process improvements to satisfy customer feedback.
• Uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
