Job summary

Ottenweller Company, Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a results-oriented Quality/Process Engineer to lead pre-production activities and validate process capability and quality assurance for new products.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks and ensure customer satisfaction. The role focuses on prototyping, tooling validation, and early production support, with responsibility for APQP/PPAP practices, FMEA, control plans, and documentation to drive reliable manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field with relevant experience.
• Experience with GD&T and ASQ-style improvement tools preferred.
• Experience using Vantage, MS Office, MS Project and CMM software.

Responsibilities

• Identify and plan critical-path items to ensure on-time launches.
• Issue returns and trace products to facilities for resolution.
• Lead tooling/fixturing procurement and validation.
• Determine and ensure process capability for product characteristics.
• Identify and mitigate process risks affecting quality.
• Implement prevention/detection controls related to process risks.
• Utilize AIAG tools (FMEA, control plan, PPAP) and 8D problem solving.
• Manage program documents and records.
• Conduct first-article and prototype production runs.
• Communicate regularly with customers on status of products.
• Develop SOPs, inspection criteria, and related documentation.
• Determine, procure, or validate inspection, measuring or test equipment.
• Support quoting to ensure appropriate pricing for related products.
• Evaluate and contain customer rejections and major internal rejections.
