Boston Scientific is seeking a Quality Engineering Intern to join our team in Minnesota. You will support quality initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and work cross-functionally to improve processes while building relationships across disciplines.

The internship emphasizes continuous improvement and patient impact. You will contribute to quality projects, apply design for manufacturing concepts, and help develop inspection systems.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
  • May 17th or 24th, 2027 start for 12 weeks internship.
  • Reliable transportation to/from work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Value Improvement Projects (VIPs) for yield and cost savings.
  • Apply design for manufacturing principles for tooling and equipment.
  • Create inspections to ensure critical requirements are met.
  • Support quality disciplines and drive decisions.
  • Use systematic problem-solving to identify and resolve quality issues.

As a Quality Engineering Intern, your job is the most important in ensuring patient safety and quality of care. The Quality Engineer develops, establishes and maintains quality engineering methodologies, systems, and practices which meet BSC, customer, and regulatory requirements.You will serve as a Quality representative for quality initiatives to support departmental, functional, site, divisional, and corporate quality goals and priorities.You will provide focused quality engineering support in a fast paced and dynamic manufacturing environment and work cross functionally to improve the manufacturing process. You will build relationships with professionals in a diverse range of fields, inspiring people to embrace a culture of continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Value Improvement Projects (VIPs) such as yield improvements, process improvements, and materials cost savings allow Boston Scientific to re-invest the savings into new products to fund company growth
  • Use design for manufacturing principles to develop tooling and equipment for manufacturing lines for new products
  • Create inspections or inspection systems to ensure products meet critical requirements
  • Act as an effective leader or team member in supporting quality disciplines, decisions, and practices.
  • Apply sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, develop, and sustain processes, procedures, tooling and equipment for first in class medical devices
  • Assist in the development and execution of streamlined business systems which effectively identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Collaborate and gain experience from a diverse cross-functional team
  • Gain better understanding by applying academic knowledge to a real-world problem set
  • Improve patient lives around the world every day
Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or Industrial Engineering
  • Graduation date must be between December 2027 - May 2029
  • Must be able to start internship on May 17th or 24th, 2027 and work for 12 weeks
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Medical Device industry
  • Self-starter with the ability to identify improvement opportunities
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and statistical analysis
