Job summary

Boston Scientific in Maple Grove, MN seeks a Process Development Intern to collaborate across R&D and Operations to develop manufacturing processes for next-generation medical devices. You will work on process plans, prototype devices, and cross-functional validation during a 12-week internship.

Eligible students pursuing Biomedical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering, graduating Fall 2027–Spring 2028, with the ability to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science/Engineering.
  • Mentioned internship duration of 12 weeks and specific start/end windows.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure integrity and content of Process Plans for materials and task sequencing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and refine manufacturing processes.
  • Design, fabricate and test prototype devices addressing clinical feedback.
  • Conduct process characterization experiments and Process Validation for optimal settings.
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies for medical devices.

As aProcess Development Intern participant,you will collaborate cross-functionally to develop manufacturing processes to create innovative, breakthrough next-generation medical devices. We partner with R&D on the front end of projects, innovate to determine how to make a design come to fruition and partner with Operations to launch life-saving devices into the market that improve and extend the lives of patients around the world.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the integrity and content of Process Plans with respect to materials used in processing and sequencing of tasks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and refine manufacturing processes
  • Design, fabricate and test prototype devices to address clinical feedback
  • Conduct process characterization experiments and Process Validation to determine optimal settings to be used in device manufacturing
  • Investigate and recommend new technology to be utilized to create medical devices

Required Qualifications:

  • Must graduate between Fall 2027 – Spring 2028
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate level degree majoring in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science/Engineering
  • Must be able to commit to a full 12 week internship assignment during one of the following timeframes:
    • May 17th, 2027 – August 6th, 2027, OR
    • May 24th, 2027 – August 13th, 2027
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove, MN Boston Scientific Corporate location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams
  • Passion to learn new technologies and find new solutions
  • Previous internship or co-op experience
  • Desire to work in a medical device company where real products get manufactured

Minimum Salary: $ 43368

Maximum Salary: $ 73736

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com— will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
