Job summary

STS Metals Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineering Intern in Irwindale, CA to develop a structured test result database and support data-driven material performance projections across variables such as size, chemistry, and forging method.

You will collaborate with external labs and testing vendors to establish direct data feeds, design control charts, and work with quality engineers to validate outputs. This hands-on role blends aerospace materials analysis with data-centric quality processes.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related degree program.
• Coursework or prior project experience in metallurgy, materials characterization, or manufacturing processes preferred.
• Strong engineering aptitude and analytical thinking.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow technical guidance and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to move between office and shop-floor environments.
• Standing, walking, bending, and light lifting may be required depending on the department.
• Noise levels may range from quiet (office) to loud (production floor).

Responsibilities

This internship offers hands-on experience in aerospace materials analysis, quality systems, and data-driven engineering processes.

The intern will be responsible for developing a testing database using data provided by external test laboratories. This tool will be used to analyze and predict material performance based on factors such as material size, chemistry, and forging method.
