Job summary

Textron Systems in Massachusetts is seeking a Quality Engineer II to support weapon systems product development, perform quality planning, data analysis, and root-cause corrective actions across projects.

You will interface with suppliers, participate in MRB procedures, and contribute to design for manufacturability. The role involves QA estimating and CAM support on small to medium programs, with potential for growth within our quality organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical degree with 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an AS9100 environment.
  • Fluent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and applications
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking to a wide range of problems
  • An inquiring mind and passion for learning
  • Ability to work in team or independently
  • Knowledge of Quality Engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with Oracle is a plus
  • Candidate must be a US citizen and able to obtain Secret clearance

Responsibilities

  • Reviews customer contracts on simple to moderately complex projects; responsible for requirements analysis, identification and definition.
  • Performs quality planning activities including development of Quality Plan, Quality Assurance Directives and Inspection Plan documents as required by the assigned project(s).
  • Interfaces with Supplier Development and Sourcing Engineering to provide guidance and support for supplier issues.
  • Participates in product development and design document reviews targeting design for manufacturability
  • Interfaces with internal organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.
  • Participates in process improvement activities through monitoring, root cause investigations, auditing, failure analysis etc.
  • Participates in Program Management activities appropriate to the assigned project(s).
  • Participates in Contract Data Requirements List development, review and delivery to the customer as required by the assigned project(s).
  • Assists in developing fabrication/build processes and standards
  • Performs Material Review Board (MRB) disposition and tracking activities.
  • Interfaces with internal organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.
  • Uses knowledge of inspection tools and techniques to define inspection requirements.

  • Provides status inputs to the Cost Account Manager for tasks performed. May perform CAM function for small to medium projects.

About This Role

Performs Quality Engineering assignments requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard Quality techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment and ingenuity in making adaptations and modifications. Quality Engineer supports product design activities, planning for quality, production activities, data analysis and development of metrics, root cause and corrective action, and process and product improvement.
