Job summary

Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company in Waterloo, IA seeks an Engineer Quality I to support quality engineering, process improvement, testing, inspections, and product development on the shop floor. You will work with senior engineers to analyze processes, implement engineering solutions, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance in a hands-on, onsite role.

This is a shop-floor position with heavy emphasis on practical testing, inspections, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field.
• Open to recent graduates with manufacturing experience.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of engineering design, development, testing and implementation.
• Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing/shop-floor environment.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams onsite.

Responsibilities

• Support quality engineering assignments involving manufacturing and materials processes.
• Analyze manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and process requirements.
• Support development and implementation of engineering solutions and feasibility testing.
• Collect and analyze test data to validate designs and solutions.
• Support the development and evaluation of engineering standards and specifications.
• Perform inspections to evaluate engineering work and equipment integrity.
• Identify quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate activities with subcontractors and suppliers as needed.
• Identify shortcomings in processes and support change management initiatives.
• Support knowledge management systems and guide team members.
• Participate in product development and engineering activities.
• Analyze customer requirements and support product delivery using established systems.
• Work within project plans to achieve engineering and quality objectives.
• Support engineering operations, health and safety, risk management, and compliance.
