Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer I to provide support across operations, development, and quality teams in South Windsor, CT. This 1st shift role focuses on zero-defect programs, data analysis, and maintaining quality processes.

You will assist with inspections, non-conformances, and documentation while collaborating with production and engineering to improve product quality and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Must have degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with quality systems and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP is preferred.
  • Ability to write procedures and maintain documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support writing procedures and data collection/analysis.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining the quality management system (AS9100, NADCAP).
  • Compile and submit FAIR packages per customer requirements.
  • Participate in contract reviews to align requirements with QMS.
  • Inspect and test materials and products to meet quality standards.
  • Use PFMEA, MSA, and Control Plans to improve processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive CAPA.
  • Evaluate supplier quality and support audits and improvement plans.
  • Work with production and engineering to resolve quality issues.

About the Opportunity:

As a Quality Engineer I, you will provide support to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills. This role also supports the development and implementation of quality processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. As Quality Engineer I you will also assist with inspections, testing, non‑conformance management, and documentation.

Location: South Windsor, CT 100% onsite. 1st shift Monday - Friday 7:00am -3:30pm
Responsibilities:
  • Support writing procedure, collecting and analyzing data.
  • Support in implementing and maintaining the quality management system. (AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP)
  • Compile and submit FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) packages per customer requirements
  • Participate in contract review process to ensure customer requirements can be met and are effectively incorporated in QMS.
  • Support the inspection and testing of raw materials, in‑process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Utilize Quality Engineering tools like PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis, and Control Plans to monitor and improve internal processes.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams to identify the root causes of quality issues and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist in evaluating supplier performance and quality, supporting supplier audits, and assisting with the development of quality improvement plans.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and other departments to resolve quality issues and improve overall product quality.
  • Participate in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, LEAN, etc.
  • Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system and customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full‑time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of quality engineering experience
  • Understanding of quality principles and methodologies.
  • Experience and training in quality systems including AS9100 and NADCAP
  • Proficiency in quality management systems, process validation, and customer specifications.
  • Experience working with CAD, QMS and ERP software.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide junior team members effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams and with customers.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
