Job summary

Acutronic is seeking a Quality Engineer I to support and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) across manufacturing operations in Austin, TX. You will drive quality assurance, support continuous improvement, and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Customers to reduce defects and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Industrial/Process Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related field.
• At least one year of aerospace, defense, or engineering industry experience.
• Training or specializations in quality assurance, management and analytics, preferred.
• Training and experience with IPC standards for Electronic manufacturing and assembly, preferred.
• Experience with Government Contract flow downs including DFARS, FARS, and DPAS, preferred.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and AS91000, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain inspection plans for incoming, in-process, and final inspection
• Define acceptance criteria aligned with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
• Support implementation of risk-based controls (FMEA, Control Plans, APQP elements where applicable)
• Ensure compliance with QMS requirements and regulatory/customer standards
• Lead and/or support root cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
• Manage and drive closure of Nonconformances, RMAs, and Corrective Actions
• Support containment, corrective, and preventive actions to prevent recurrence
• Support supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification and performance monitoring, managing supplier corrective actions (SCARs), and resolving incoming quality issues.
• Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation
• Ensure proper documentation control and record retention
• Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure design for quality and manufacturability
• Provide training and guidance on quality processes and requirements
• Support calibration and measurement system management

This role drives quality assurances, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Customers to reduce defects, improve process capability, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Quality Engineer I

Your Roles/Responsibilities:

Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Industrial/Process Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related field from an accredited college or university, preferred
• At least one years of related aerospace, defense, or engineering industry experience, required
• Additional training or specializations in quality assurance, management and analytics, preferred
• Training and experience with IPC standards for Electronic manufacturing and assembly, preferred
• Experience with Government Contract flow downs including DFARS, FARS, and DPAS, preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered
• Experienced in project management as well as documentation practices, preferred
• Experience with ISO 9001 and AS91000, preferred
