Job summary

Union Metal Industries Corp. is seeking a Quality Engineer in Canton, OH to own the regulatory approval process for products from development through to sustained production. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field and 3–5+ years in quality engineering, regulatory compliance, or product certification.
• Experience managing DOT/Federal/state regulatory approval or certification processes.
• Strong understanding of quality systems, CAPA, FMEA, control plans, process validation, and statistical controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the DOT approval process from requirements to testing, submission, and ongoing compliance.
• Interpret DOT, federal and state standards and translate into product/manufacturing requirements.
• Develop and manage regulatory approval roadmaps, milestones, and documentation.
• Coordinate with DOT agencies, testing labs, and certification bodies as the primary technical contact.
• Prepare technical documents, test plans, reports, and regulatory submissions.
• Ensure product design is manufacturable and meets specifications.
• Develop quality plans, process validation, and acceptance criteria for production.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
