Job summary

US Farathane Orion in Orion, MI is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to ensure injected plastic components meet customer, internal, and regulatory requirements. You will support production, engineering, and suppliers through automotive quality tools, corrective actions, and compliance with IATF 16949 and supplier requirements.

The role involves direct interaction with OEMs and Tier 1 customers, leading quality initiatives, audits, and documentation such as PPAP and APQP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or equivalent (or 5 years of experience).
• 2–5 years of Quality Engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
• Strong working knowledge of plastic injection molding processes.
• Experience with SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, and PPAP.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Prefer CQE or equivalent certification; experience with OEMs/Tier 1 suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and internal procedures.
• Develop and maintain quality systems for projects assigned.
• Lead and/or participate in implementation and discipline of SPC.
• Participate in audits and support corrective action responses.
• Ensure adherence to Control Plans, PFMEA, and Process Flow Diagrams.
• Support daily manufacturing operations for plastic injection molding processes.
• Analyze nonconforming material and implement containment actions.
• Monitor SPC data and identify trends affecting product quality.
• Lead and support APQP activities and PPAP documentation.
• Prepare reports and presentations for management and customers.
