Borusan Pipe USA is seeking an entry-level Quality Engineer to join the Alpha Program in our TX plant. You will support quality management, inspections, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet internal standards and customer specs.

Reporting to the Director of Quality, you will gain hands-on experience in a high-volume ERW steel pipe facility, with exposure to safety, audits, and process optimization across multiple departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/industrial engineering or related field.
  • 0–1 year of relevant experience; internships or co-op preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, eager to learn, and able to work across departments.
  • Knowledge in Lean/6 Sigma Production Methodology, time studies and 5S preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices in all plant areas including operations, testing, and shipping.
  • Assist in implementing quality assurance processes across plant operations.
  • Conduct inspections, dimensional checks, and material testing to verify compliance.
  • Support troubleshooting and investigation of non-conforming products or processes.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Generate reports on key quality metrics, including rejection rates and scrap rates.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory reporting, and certification activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and lean initiatives.
  • Support process optimization, standardization, and preventive measures to reduce defects.

Job description

The Quality Engineer (Entry Level-Alpha Program) will support the quality management and assurance processes within the ERW steel pipe manufacturing facility. This position provides hands‑on experience in industrial quality engineering, supporting production, inspection, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet internal standards and customer specifications.

This role will report directly into the Director, Quality or as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Primarily works within the production mill environment with moderate administrative office work. Exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery; PPE required at all times. Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. May require shift work, including nights or weekends, depending on production schedule or during major maintenance or startups.

1. Qualifications:
  • 1.1. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field. Metallurgical degree preferred.
  • 1.2. 0–1 year of relevant experience; internships or co‑op experience in manufacturing, quality or industrial settings preferred.

2. Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance
  • 2.1 Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • 2.2 Follow and promote safe work practices in all areas of the plant, including operations, testing, and shipping.
Quality Assurance & Process Support
  • 2.3 Assist in implementing quality assurance processes across all plant operations.

Data Collection & Reporting
  • 2.1 Collect, analyze, and interpret quality and process data to identify trends, defects, and areas for improvement.
  • 2.2 Assist in generating reports on key quality metrics, including rejection rates, customer complaints, scrap rates, and process efficiency.
  • 2.3 Support internal audits, regulatory compliance reporting, and certification activities.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices
  • 2.4 Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives across all plant operations.
  • 2.5 Support process optimization, standardization, and preventive measures to reduce defects and improve throughput.
  • 2.6 Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles under the guidance of senior engineers and managers
Professional Development
  • 2.7 Participate in training programs to develop technical skills and understanding of steel pipe manufacturing processes.
  • 2.8 Gain exposure to multiple plant operations to build a comprehensive understanding of quality engineering in a global manufacturing context
