Job summary

Protingent is seeking a Quality Engineer for an on-site role in Elyria, OH to lead APQP initiatives and ensure products conform to industry and customer requirements. You will collaborate across engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers while advancing AS9145 processes.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in Quality Engineering, with APQP/PPAP/DFMEA/PFMEA experience and strong communication skills. This role requires ITAR/compliance awareness and direct-hire employment at our Elyria

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA.
• Excellent communication skills and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain quality control systems; analyze production data to identify trends.
• Conduct root cause analysis; implement corrective and preventive actions; support failure analysis.
• Develop and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, and PFDs; support APQP, PPAP, and MSA execution.
• Identify critical control points in the Value Stream and establish sampling procedures.
• Support defense, aerospace, and customer audits to ensure AS9100/regulatory compliance.
• Lead product and process change qualifications; review and approve ECOs, MCOs, deviations.
• Train team members in quality methodologies and statistical analysis.

Position Description: Protingent has an exciting direct hire opportunity with our client in Elyria, OH for a Quality Engineer to work onsite in Elyria, OH.

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to control and monitor quality processes, ensuring products consistently meet industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. Located at our client's historic Elyria facility—known for excellence in aircraft pumping technology and custom thermal management solutions—you will collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers while actively supporting the site-wide implementation of AS9145 (APQP).

Job Responsibilities

• Quality Systems & Monitoring: Monitor and maintain quality control systems to ensure effectiveness; collect, analyze, and interpret production and process capability data to identify trends.
• Root Cause & Corrective Action: Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues; recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions; provide technical support for failure analysis and reliability testing.
• AS9145 & Risk Mitigation: Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and maintain Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs); support site APQP, PPAP, and MSA execution.
• Quality Engineering Oversight: Identify critical control points in the Value Stream and establish appropriate sampling procedures; halt production processes if critical defects are identified to prevent nonconforming escapes.
• Audit & Compliance Support: Support and participate in Defense, Aerospace, and customer audits to ensure compliance with AS9100, regulatory, and program requirements.
• Qualification & Document Control: Lead product and process change qualifications; review and approve quality-related document changes including ECOs, MCOs, and deviations.
• Team Training: Train and instruct team members in quality control methodologies, statistical analysis, and analytical procedures.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-5 years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Quality Methodologies: Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and MSA for AS9145 process controls.
• Technical & Communication Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); excellent written and verbal communication skills; full color acuity.
• Preferred: Prior experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment or similar high-reliability manufacturing setting. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
