Job summary

Advantage Technical is seeking a QMS Administrator focused on aerospace and defense quality management. The role ensures the quality system stays audit-ready and compliant with customer, regulatory, and DoD requirements.

The candidate will maintain QMS processes, support DoD contracting requirements, and coordinate with management on CUI, DFARS, NIST, and CMMC obligations as applicable. A small manufacturing/engineering setting is described.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience with audits, RCCA and supplier quality activities.
  • Familiarity with FAI, inspection planning, and MTQ documentation.

  • Own and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.
  • Maintain the Quality Manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and supporting documentation.

Summary

The Quality Engineer / QMS Administrator is responsible for maintaining, administering, and continually improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with applicable customer, regulatory, aerospace, and U.S. Department of Defense requirements.

The successful candidate should be capable of independently maintaining an audit-ready quality system within a small manufacturing/engineering organization and supporting aerospace, defense, and other highly regulated customer programs.

The individual should also possess sufficient familiarity with DoD contracting requirements to recognize when requirements involving CUI, DFARS, CMMC, cybersecurity, export controls, or other specialized compliance obligations require involvement from management or a qualified subject-matter expert.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain the company's Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and, where applicable, AS9100 requirements.
  • Maintain the Quality Manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage document and record control, including revision control, approvals, distribution, retention, and obsolete-document prevention.
Internal & External Audits
  • Develop and execute the annual internal audit program.
  • Conduct process-based internal audits and document findings.
  • Coordinate external ISO/AS certification and surveillance audits.
Nonconformance & Corrective Action
  • Manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and customer complaints.
  • Lead or facilitate root-cause analysis using appropriate methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D, or similar methods.
  • Develop or review inspection plans, control plans, acceptance criteria, and quality documentation.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities when applicable.
  • Review inspection and test records for completeness and conformity.
  • Manage calibration and control of inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Support disposition and control of nonconforming product.
  • Participate in Material Review Board activities as required.
Supplier Quality
  • Maintain the Approved Supplier List.
  • Support supplier qualification, evaluation, monitoring, and periodic re-evaluation.
  • Ensure appropriate quality and contractual requirements are flowed down to suppliers.
  • Issue and manage supplier corrective actions when required.
  • Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
Aerospace & Defense Compliance
  • Maintain familiarity with AS9100-series aerospace and defense QMS requirements.
  • Review DoD and defense-customer contractual quality requirements and ensure applicable requirements are incorporated into company processes.
  • Support traceability, configuration control, product safety, counterfeit-part prevention, foreign-object-damage prevention, and other aerospace/defense requirements where applicable.
  • Support proper identification, handling, storage, retention, and disposition of customer and government records.
  • Assist management in identifying quality and compliance obligations contained in customer purchase orders, contracts, specifications, and flow-down requirements.
  • Coordinate with management, IT/security personnel, and outside specialists regarding Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), DFARS, NIST SP 800-171, and CMMC requirements when applicable.
  • General working knowledge of CUI, NIST SP 800-171, and CMMC requirements.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or equivalent certification.
