Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Quality Engineer to design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing production processes across quality control, inventory management, logistics and material flow.   • Knowledge of SPC and machine shop gaging.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, monitor and develop quality systems per ISO/AS9100/NADCAP and similar standards.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data to set quality and reliability targets for finished products.
  • Coordinate quality investigations and root-cause analysis to prevent non-conformances.
  • Drive cost improvement and productivity initiatives across QA and inspection functions.
  • Interface with engineering and operations to resolve internal/external non-conformances.

Job description

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and evaluating integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. This will be accomplished by utilizing various manufacturing methodologies including but not limited to Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, 6S, TOC, and problem solving.Essential Functions

  • Maintain, monitor and develop systems relating to ISO, AS9100, NADCAP and other similar industry standards
  • Develop and maintain Quality systems with the customer and manufacturing to ensure delivery of quality products
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
  • Direct involvement with advanced NDT development, training and implementation on strategic engine programs
  • Drive cost improvement and productivity initiatives throughout the Quality Assurance and inspection functions
  • Work with engineering and operations to identify root cause for all internal and external non-conformance
  • Responsible for review of customer drawings, specifications, etc. to identify customer quality requirements
  • Prepare inspection instructions for radiographic, fluorescent penetrant, grain etch, visual and dimensional inspection
  • Perform audits to monitor product quality/ISO requirements and support manufacturing/inspection training activities
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service including customer issues and complaints relating to quality
  • Coordinate production procedures in cooperation with other plants to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Quality investigations as required to identify and eliminate scrap/rework causes and customer issues
  • Interface with customer representative for source inspections and quality issue resolution
  • Maintain Quality Assurance records required by both the company and the customer
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs
  • Maintain active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Quality Engineering role, or 6 to 8 years general quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of SPC and machine shop gaging requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).
