Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure compliance with AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements by maintaining the QMS, conducting audits, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of current experience in a machine shop QE role.
  • Experience managing or developing a QMS as a QE is mandatory.
  • Enovia or CATIA experience mandatory.
  • Familiarity with BAC5114 is a plus.
  • Understanding of SPC and Sampling is a plus.
  • History of working with operational employees on RCCA processes is a must.
  • Experience preparing Management review presentations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the QMS ensuring aerospace QA compliance.
  • Oversee internal and external audits to ensure quality requirements.
  • Lead RCCA investigations and corrective actions with training.
  • Drive continuous improvement using data-driven analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace and governmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement quality and inspection plans for parts and assemblies.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Manage internal audit programs and train auditors.
  • Report audit findings and develop corrective action plans.
  • Evaluate suppliers with Procurement through supplier audits.
  • Apply quality tools and shop floor inspection processes for process control.
  • Prepare quarterly management review data.
  • Identify and remove non-value-added steps in QMS.

Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements through the maintenance of the Quality Management System, execution of audit programs, resolution of quality issues, implementation of corrective actions, supplier quality oversight, and continuous improvement activities that support manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $93,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards and driving superior QA performance.
  • Oversee internal and external audits to ensure strict adherence to quality requirements.
  • Assist in the resolution of quality escapes, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up. Champion and train others for the Omni root cause corrective action process.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven analysis and industry’s best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace and governmental regulations, including certifications.
  • Develop and implement quality and inspection plans for manufactured parts and assemblies.
  • Interface with internal and external customers and suppliers to investigate and resolve quality issues.
  • Manage internal audit programs and train internal auditors.
  • Report audit findings to management and develop corrective action plans.
  • Evaluate suppliers in collaboration with Procurement to ensure adherence to quality standards through supplier audits.
  • Implement quality tools and inspection processes on the shop floor to ensure process control.
  • Prepare and deliver quarterly management reviews to the management team including audit and inspection performance data.
  • Look for opportunities to streamline QMS processes by removing non value added steps or actions
Requirements
  • 4-5 years of current experience in a Machine Shop Quality Engineering role.
  • Machining experience is a plus
  • Electrical experience is a plus
  • Experience managing or developing a QMS as a QE is mandatory
  • Enovia or CATIA experience mandatory
  • Multiple years of effective RCCA process management is a must.
  • Familiarity with BAC5114 is a plus.
  • Understanding of SPC and Sampling is a plus.
  • History of working with operational employees on RCCA processes is a must.
  • Experience preparing Management review presentations is a plus.
