Job summary

Company Overview

Responsibilities
  • Manage supplier quality activities for assigned suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with Symbotic quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Serve as the primary quality contact for suppliers and contract manufacturers, supporting issue resolution and ongoing quality performance.
  • Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and reviews to evaluate compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support quality planning activities throughout the product lifecycle, including new product introduction, production readiness, and sustaining operations.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using structured problem‑solving methodologies such as QRRC, 8D, A3, and 5‑Why.
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance through metrics and KPIs, identifying trends and driving improvement actions as needed.
  • Support process improvement initiatives focused on enhancing product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and supplier performance.
  • Maintain quality documentation and provide regular updates on supplier performance and quality concerns.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members as appropriate.
  • Travel to supplier and contract manufacturing locations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline is preferred; related work experience is required. Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.

  • Proficient in quality management concepts, tools, and methods (FMEA, DOE, MSA, GRR, 8D, etc.).
  • Experience with Control Plans, FMEAs, and PPAP or equivalent part approval processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and ability to identify critical control points.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control software such as SAA, Minitab, and JMP, and advanced Excel skills for data organization and analysis.
  • Strong communication, quantitative, and analytical skills with the ability to translate findings into actionable business decisions.
  • CQE and Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred (must demonstrate deep core knowledge).
  • Certified or previously certified ISO 9001 or AS9100 auditor preferred.
Environment & Travel

Hybrid role based remotely in Detroit with a minimum of two days onsite per week. Up to 25% travel, both domestic and international, may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

Compensation

The base range for this position is $82,000.00 – $126,000.00, though base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.
