Job summary

voestalpine Automotive Components Cartersville, Inc. seeks a Quality Engineer to maintain and improve the Quality System, ensure customer requirements are met, and drive continuous improvements across production processes.

Key duties include implementing APQP and PPAP, coordinating audits, analyzing lab data, and leading quality projects while ensuring compliance with GD&T and ISO standards. Strong communication and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Systems or Engineering or similar field.
  • 2 years minimum Automotive Industry experience.
  • 2 years minimum Quality related Field.
  • GD&T experience.
  • Auditing experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • CATIA/CAD or similar experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of quality planning (APQP and initial sampling).
  • PPAP approvals, audits, reclamations, charge-backs, etc.
  • Examination of lab and measurement reports and initiation of appropriate measures.
  • Preparation, supervision, and closure of customer audits.
  • Implementation and monitoring of countermeasures.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Creating inspection documents for auditors.
  • Overseeing customer and supplier visits.
  • Participation in and managing quality and customer projects.
  • Implementation of internal audits.
  • Engineering change implementation and monitoring.
  • Tool, process, and gauge buy offs.
  • PPAP submission to customers.
  • Participation in FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows, and other process documentation.
  • Operate Metrologic X4 Software with CMM; Faro/Romer Arm; Polyworks.
  • Follows all guidelines set forth in our 5s training.
  • Other duties based on company needs and skills.

Summary/Objective

The Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality System, production processes, and assuring customer requirements are achieved at all times.

Essential Functions

  • Supplier coordination- PPAP approval, conduct audits, issue reclamations, issue charge backs, etc.
  • Examination of laboratory and measurement reports and initiation of appropriate measures.
  • Preparation, supervision, and closure of customer audits.
  • Implementation and monitoring of countermeasures.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawing, standards, and specifications.
  • Creating the required inspection documents for auditors.
  • Overseeing customer and supplier visits.
  • Participation in and managing of quality and customer projects.
  • Implementation of internal audits.
  • Engineering change implementation and monitoring.
  • Tool, process, and gauge buy offs.
  • PPAP submission to customers.
  • Participation in FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows, and other process documentation.
  • Properly Setup and run CMM using Metrologic X4 Software
  • Operate Faro/Romer Arm Using Metrologic X4 and Polyworks Software
  • Follows all guidelines set forth in our 5s training.
  • Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned based on company needs and skills level.
  • English language skills (written and spoken)
  • German language skills (written and spoken) preferred but not required
  • Spanish language skills (written and spoken) preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete logs and reports
Supervisory Responsibility

No direct Supervisory responsibility. During sorting and team activities it is expected of the Quality Engineer to lead and supervise all activities and play a leading role.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In order to meet our customer’s demands this role may be required to perform work outside of business hours including weekends

Travel

Domestic and International occasional travel.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Systems or Engineering or similar field
  • 2 years minimum Automotive Industry experience
  • 2 years minimum Quality related Field
  • GD & T experience
  • Auditing experience
  • Must be proficient in MS Office
  • CATIA/CAD or similar experience required
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience in the use of SAP ERP
  • Metal and metal forming process experience
  • Resistance/Projection/Laser/Drawn Arc welding and Brazing experience
  • Hot Forming and laser cutting experience
