Job summary

Toledo Tool & Die is seeking a Quality Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain quality processes across manufacturing to meet internal and customer standards. You will support launches, monitor process capability, and drive continuous improvement.

Based in Toledo, OH, the role offers competitive pay, benefits, and a safe work environment with opportunities for growth. Travel to supplier sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality or engineering.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control methods.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with AIAG core tools: PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and control plans.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans, control plans, and inspection standards for manufacturing processes.
  • Support production by monitoring process capability and product quality, and addressing quality issues in real time.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using structured problem‑solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) with emphasis on permanent corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer and certification audits.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production to improve process stability and product quality.
  • Conduct and support QMS audits, Mfg. Process audits, Product audits, and Layered Process Audits internal audits and support customer and 3rd party audits.
  • Support new product launches, including APQP, PPAP, run‑at‑rates, and SOP readiness.
  • Review and approve quality‑related documentation, including work instructions and inspection procedures.
  • Support supplier quality activities as needed, including corrective actions and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer‑specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assumes additional duties as assigned.

Toledo Tool & Die is adding a Quality Engineer to our team to support our continued growth.

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality processes to ensure products meet internal standards and customer requirements. This role supports manufacturing operations through process control, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards. The Quality Engineer plays a critical hands‑on role in supporting new program launches, press commissioning, and production ramp‑up activities at assigned plant.

COMPENSATION:

$95,000 - $110,000 annually, depending on years of experience, education, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.

Eligible for up to 5% annual performance bonus.

Hours are typically:

Monday-Friday; present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which could include long days, occasional evening & weekends; regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position; position may require travel to meetings, conferences, workshops or other facilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans, control plans, and inspection standards for manufacturing processes
  • Support production by monitoring process capability and product quality, and addressing quality issues in real time
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using structured problem‑solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) with emphasis on permanent corrective actions and prevention of recurrence
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and reduce scrap and rework
  • Support internal and external audits, including customer and certification audits
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production to improve process stability and product quality
  • Conduct and support QMS audits, Mfg. Process audits, Product audits, and Layered Process Audits internal audits and support customer and 3rd party audits. These activities include pre‑audit planning and preparation, conducting audits, and post‑audit follow‑up regarding necessary improvements and related CAPAs.
  • Support new product launches, including APQP, PPAP, run‑at‑rates, and SOP readiness
  • Review and approve quality‑related documentation, including work instructions and inspection procedures
  • Support supplier quality activities as needed, including corrective actions and performance monitoring
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer‑specific requirements)
  • Maintain accurate quality records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ability to take direction, coaching, and act positively to improve performance.
  • Assumes additional duties as assigned, which may fall outside the primary scope of the role.
ISO / ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental processes and requirements applicable to their role.
  • Employee is responsible for ensuring all environmental practices are in line with job scope / position. Examples include but are not limited to: proper waste disposal practices, reporting of spills, non‑compliance to permit, and addressing any improper practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field (or related experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality or engineering role
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control methods
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience in automotive or high‑volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience and demonstrated competence with understanding and applying all six AIAG core tools, (PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and control plans).
  • General knowledge of and competence with the efficient use of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web‑site software
  • Has the ability to learn new software systems and data management systems quickly
  • Proficient keyboarding and typing skills.
