Job summary

Lakeside Recruiting Solutions is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead advance quality control activities for new product launches. You will coordinate with Launch Engineers and interface with site customer quality engineering, product engineering, and manufacturing to develop and execute the quality system.

You will develop PFMEA’s and Control Plans, assist with APQP documentation, support NPR reviews, and contribute to lean initiatives while traveling to customer plants to review issues and

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required.
• Experience with SPC and Gage R&R preferred.
• Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA, and Control Plans expected.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development of quote proposals for new business opportunities.
• Develops the gaging strategy for new product launches.
• Leads the launch team in creating PFMEA’s, Control Plans and other quality documents.
• Assists in development and coordination of APQP documentation.
• Supports NPR process for launches and maintains/improves the plant quality system.
• Participates in lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Travels to customer plants to review complaints and potential problems.
• Maintains knowledge of inspection tools and gage calibrations; supports gage R&R studies.

Job description

The Quality Engineer will lead and manage in the advance quality control activities in coordination with the Launch Engineer and interfaces with site customer quality engineering, product engineering, and manufacturing staff in order to develop and execute the quality control system for new product launches.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development of quote proposals for new business opportunities.
• Develops the specific gaging strategy for new product launches.
• Leads the launch team in the creation of PFMEA’s, Control Plans and other quality documentation for new product launches.
• Assists in the development and coordination of APQP documentation
• Facilitates discipline approach to problem solving as necessary during the launch phase of new products.
• Supports New Product Review process (NPR) for the launch of new products with the following responsibilities:
• Maintains and improves on plant quality system:
• Involvement with customer visits to and/or customer quality audits when required. This includes providing corrective actions resulting from the audits
• Participates in lean manufacturing initiatives and incorporates lean and continuous improvement concepts in work activities and completion of projects.
• Travels to customer’s plants to review customer complaints and potential problems.
• Maintains knowledge of inspection tools and the gage calibrations, including providing assistance in maintaining gage R&R studies and capability studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
• SPC training including working knowledge. (Includes Gage R&R knowledge).
• Completion of Blueprint interpretation course including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
• Control Plan and FMEA training or working knowledge.
