Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

The Quality Engineer role within an automotive market quality division focuses on analyzing warranty-related issues, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective actions to improve product performance and customer satisfaction. You will work hands-on with failed parts and vehicles, conduct technical investigations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality targets and department performance metrics are achieved.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analysis of failed warranty parts and subject components and vehicles to test conditions to identify failures and simulate possible causes and influences.
• Identify warranty problems related to design, manufacturing, or sales and service factors, promote and carry out investigations, and determine root causes.
• Prepare clear technical documentation, reports, and summaries, and present findings to quality management and other stakeholders.
• Communicate regularly with suppliers, design teams, and service teams to support problem investigation, resolution, and implementation of corrective actions.
• Work with responsible departments and suppliers to facilitate appropriate problem containment and ensure issues are controlled and monitored.
• Support cost recovery efforts and negotiations by thoroughly examining warranty data and associated analysis records.
• Conduct analytical reviews of market quality data to support achieving department performance metrics and targets.
• Implement countermeasures when necessary to ensure department results meet established quality and performance standards.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, electrical technology, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent related work experience.
• 0-6 years of experience in engineering or related technical roles, depending on education.
• Experience in the automotive industry, including exposure to transmissions, automotive repair, or automotive maintenance.
• Background in quality engineering or quality assurance, with the ability to support investigations into product and warranty concerns.
• Ability to investigate technical problems, derive conclusions from observations and data, and apply an analytical approach to root cause analysis.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills for preparing reports and presenting findings to quality management.
• Effective communication skills to work with suppliers, design teams, and service teams on problem investigation and resolution.
• Hands-on capability and willingness to work directly with vehicles and components in a technical environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Co-op or internship experience in automotive engineering, quality engineering, or related technical fields.
• Experience with transmission assembly or diagnosis of transmission-related issues.
• Exposure to warranty analysis, recall investigations, or post-production quality concerns.
• Interest in problem-solving and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• Passion for cars and enthusiasm for working directly with vehicles to recreate and understand customer concerns.
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear narratives that support decision-making and product improvement.
• Comfort working in both office and workshop settings, moving between data analysis, documentation, and hands-on testing.

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean automotive quality environment that combines office and hands-on vehicle work. You will have dedicated desk space for data analysis and reporting, as well as access to service bays similar to those found in a dealership for inspecting and testing vehicles and components. The facility focuses on post-production quality concerns, including warranty claims, recall investigations, and issues identified after vehicles are released to the market. The team works collaboratively to analyze root causes, develop corrective actions, and support customer satisfaction and product quality. The work is dynamic and varied, with opportunities to get behind the wheel, recreate real-world vehicle concerns, and see the direct impact of your engineering analysis and recommendations on vehicles in the field.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raymond, OH.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
