We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support and enhance incoming inspection and supplier quality processes within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that incoming materials and components meet established quality standards, engineering specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and problem-solving skills, hands‑on experience with inspection and measurement equipment, and a solid understanding of quality management methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee incoming inspections of materials, components, and assemblies to verify compliance with engineering specifications, drawings, and established quality standards.
- Review inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation, including inspection records, non-conformance reports, and corrective action documentation.
- Investigate supplier and incoming material quality issues, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns and improve incoming material quality and supplier performance.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality procedures, inspection plans, work instructions, and acceptance criteria for incoming materials and components.
- Analyze inspection results, quality metrics, and trend data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize quality tools and methodologies to support root cause analysis, corrective actions, process improvements, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving product quality, reducing defects, and increasing operational efficiency.
- Provide training and technical guidance to team members regarding quality requirements, inspection techniques, measurement equipment, and industry best practices.
- Assist with internal, supplier, and external audits related to incoming inspection, quality control, and quality management systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, company procedures, and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience, preferably with responsibility for incoming inspection or supplier quality within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control methodologies, tools, and practices.
- Working knowledge of applicable quality standards and methodologies, including ISO standards and Six Sigma principles.
- Experience using precision measurement and inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and quality management systems/software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar quality‑related certification.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other statistical quality improvement techniques.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality and industry standards applicable to electrical and/or mechanical components.
Previous experience supporting supplier quality and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
