Job Description:
  • The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigates the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes.
  • A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings and read and interpret blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment, or software.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
  • The role will require program leadership experience and provide significant product management leadership exposure. Leveraging this knowledge base, this position will speak into New Product Introduction programs to help assess carry-over risk of new products being designed, along with mainly work to review our incoming warranty info to help contain product issues while collaborating with our factories. This team member will also play a support role in our analytics sweet and AI development to help increase efficiency along with better visibility to product issue management.
Why this Role?
  • This position on the IPSD-Large Product Quality team (L5) will focus on leading projects to address customer pain through resolution of field product quality issues. Collaborating with our service engineering, platform, and design control teams this individual will lead cross functional teams to address quality issues and drive production and service solutions alongside communications to our dealers on project status. Lastly, this position will lead customer facing commercial teams to define product support programs and publications to communicate to the field.
Typical task breakdown:
  • Collaborate with service engineering and customer facing teams to solicit and gage customer feedback on product quality concerns.
  • Lead cross functional teams encompassing L3-L5 design controls, product support and customer facing team members through the DMAIC CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) process to introduce production and service part solutions on time and on cost.
  • Engage customers, dealers, suppliers, team members, and other business units in assessing and communicating project results.
  • Lead and maintain Power bi dashboards that are utilized for monitoring quality trends
Interaction with team:
  • Daily meetings, phone calls, and collaborations with cross functional engineering teams along with customers we serve
  • 3 other members, local NA America team but can work with global teams if needed
Education & Experience Required:
  • 2+ years with Bachelors
  • Open to 2 year degree with 6 years of relevant experience
  • Masters will still need 2 years experience
  • Engineering or equivalent technical degree Associates or bachelors
  • Internship will count as experience
