Job summary

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. seeks a Quality Engineer to support new product and process development and manufacturing, ensuring compliance with AS9100/ISO14001 and driving continuous improvement across defense and commercial programs.

You will lead APQP reviews, define inspection criteria, apply SPC, coordinate PPAP/FAI and other quality activities with engineering, production, and suppliers to ensure products meet requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in Quality or a bachelor’s degree in Quality, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, with 5+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of APQP, SPC, AS9100, and ISO 14001.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with PPAP, FAI, FMEA, control plans, and MRB processes.

Responsibilities

• Support quality management systems and maintain quality documents and work instructions.
• Review contracts, drawings, process routings, and plans via APQP.
• Define product characteristics, inspection criteria, and methods with Manufacturing Engineering.
• Apply SPC methods and support product qualification and launches.
• Coordinate PPAP, FAI, FMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R, and MSA activities.
• Lead corrective/preventive actions using root cause analysis and lean tools.
• Participate in MRB, quality audits, and disposition of non-conforming material.
• Train inspectors and production, drive continuous improvement, support ECN and PCR.

The Quality Engineer supports new product/process development and manufacturing through the application of quality engineering techniques. This role supports product development, launches, and manufacturing while working with customers, suppliers, engineering, and production teams to ensure products meet quality and regulatory requirements and drive continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

• Support quality management systems and create and maintain quality documents, procedures, and work instructions
• Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process by reviewing contracts, drawings, process routings, purchase orders, work instructions, and production/development plans
• Review customer-specific requirements, maintain assigned Plex workflow actions, and complete customer submissions and Certificates of Conformance (CoC)
• Define critical product characteristics, inspection criteria, and inspection methods in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering
• Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and support new product qualification and launch activities
• Prepare and coordinate quality documentation and evaluations, including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAI), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
• Lead and participate in corrective/preventive action activities using root cause analysis, Lean, A3, Six Sigma, poka-yoke, and error-proofing techniques
• Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, quality audits, corrective actions, and disposition of non-conforming material
• Support and train inspectors and production personnel, drive continuous improvement, and perform quality activities for Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Process Change Requests (PCR)

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Quality or Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and 5+ years of related experience and/or training (Or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and quality engineering techniques
• Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 14001 quality/environmental policies
• Problem-solving and analysis skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to use and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to use handheld and surface plate measurement devices
• Ability to work accurately to company standards with little to no rework
• Ability to perform assigned tasks without direct supervision
• Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors and accept constructive criticism
• Must follow safety procedures, security protocols, and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
• Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ)
