Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description

The Quality Engineer serves as the primary quality engineering resource within a manufacturing facility, working closely with production, engineering, inspection, and leadership teams to maintain product quality and drive continuous improvement. This highly visible role is heavily focused on the manufacturing floor, where the Quality Engineer investigates issues, supports corrective actions, analyzes nonconformances, and collaborates with production personnel to resolve quality concerns. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, practical problem-solving skills, and the confidence to challenge processes when quality standards are not being met.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate manufacturing and quality issues directly on the production floor and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support nonconformance investigations and perform root cause analysis to identify and eliminate sources of defects.
  • Create, complete, and manage Corrective Action Reports (CARs) to document issues, actions, and outcomes.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Why methodology and 8D problem solving to address quality concerns.
  • Work closely with inspectors, manufacturing personnel, and engineers to coordinate quality activities and corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality trends and data to identify recurring issues and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support compliance with aerospace and military quality standards by following established procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, process reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with quality documentation and reporting, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with standards.
  • Interface regularly with production teams to ensure quality issues are understood, prioritized, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with a team of inspectors, engineering personnel, and quality leadership to align on quality objectives and improvement plans.
  • Handle products, components, and hand tools on the shop floor to inspect, evaluate, and verify quality.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across functions to influence decisions and advocate for quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate the confidence to push back and challenge processes when quality issues arise or standards are at risk.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing production environment with hands-on exposure to shop floor activities.
  • Demonstrated experience solving problems directly on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong understanding of nonconformances, corrective actions, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Familiarity with 5 Why investigations and/or 8D problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to create, complete, and manage Corrective Action Reports (CARs).
  • Basic proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with products, components, and hand tools.
  • Ability to work fully onsite in Horsham, PA every day.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels.
  • Hands-on mentality with a high level of comfort being on the shop floor.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Confidence and professional authority to push back and address quality concerns when necessary.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience working with military (MIL) standards.
  • Background in electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with light measurement, optical inspection, or visual quality standards.
  • Previous leadership experience, either formal or informal.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, training, tutoring, leading projects, or serving as a team captain.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Prior experience working under the title of Quality Engineer.
Work Environment

This role is based fully onsite in a manufacturing facility in Horsham, PA, with the Quality Engineer spending significant time on the production floor. The work environment is hands‑on and shop‑floor oriented, involving regular interaction with inspectors, engineers, production personnel, and quality leadership. The position requires handling products, components, and hand tools as part of investigations and inspections. Standard office tools such as Excel and Microsoft Office are used for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. Job Type & Location

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
